Janet had been anxiously waiting for a number of days for the arrival of some goldendoodle puppies. The dam was expecting her second litter and was starting to nest getting ready for the event. Finally the day had arrived. It was a February evening when Janet saw the mother deliver the first of her litter.
The mother was tired after the births but she was proud to show off her new family to Janet. Janet was delighted to see there were nine puppies. However, after examining the little ones she was distressed to discover a couple of the babies had cleft palates.
Janet was determined to make sure these little ones would get the extra care they needed. At first morning light, her son got behind the wheel and Janet loaded up her patients to make a six hour drive to an expert that was experienced in the care that they needed. It was a tiresome journey they made that day. They had to make a number of stops to be sure the puppies had the nutrition and care they needed on the ride so they could stay healthy all the way to their destination.
When Janet arrived back home after another six hour drive she was exhausted but in good spirits thinking that she had successfully delivered her charges to an expert that was going to take care of these babies and adopt them out to proper and loving homes.
However, her light hearted emotions faded quickly when unbelievably she found another beautiful puppy that looked to be in good health, also had a cleft palate. Being distraught to think she had missed this little boy, Janet was determined to save his life.
After much research on the internet and consultation Janet began her life saving efforts. Needless to say this puppy was special and had stolen Janet’s heart. He had to be named, and Pooh was the perfect name that fit.
As it turned out Pooh was not only a survivor but he was the leader of the pack. Not only was he the first one to walk, but he was the first one to run.
After ten weeks of care, Janet wanted to keep Pooh by her side, but knew she needed to let him go to his permanent home. It was a daunting task to let this loved one leave the nest. Janet thought long and hard about who she could give her special boy too. After much deliberation she decided to contact one of her internet admirers who had been in constant contact with her.
Janet made a faithful call and the individual was ecstatic over the possibility that she could adopt one of the precious puppies. However, when Janet told her that the puppy had a cleft palate and wanted to make sure that this would be a proper home for Pooh, there was complete silence from the other end of the phone.
For a moment Janet was concerned that she had made a mistake. But, after the woman could gather her breath she told Janet how perfect that was as her nephew also had a cleft palate.
Janet realized then that sometimes things happen in our lives that are meant to be. When she delivered Pooh to his new home, not only was his new human so happy she had tears in her eyes, Pooh was bounding with joy over his forever home.
